High Falls Ride
Dear Riders,
Wow, what a beautiful day for a ride!  We had another great day of riding some unfamiliar roads, meeting new friends (Welcome, Randy Banks!), eating some great food and having just a good time of fellowship.  I'll let the comments from some of the participants give you an idea of how the day went:

Chuck Fleegle said, "What a ride.  Crisp Air, scenic, great food and relaxed fellowship. It's amazing how many different smells one can take in during a ride; a wood fire blowing in the distance, autumn leaves and laughter at the stop signs.
I have not been to High Falls in twenty-seven years. I enjoyed the slight change of color in the leaves and the sound of the falls, meeting new people (Randy) and laughing - just to name a few."

Jason Elsberry followed up with, "Today's ride was great. It was such a perfect day to get out and enjoy what God created. It was my first trip to High Falls and what a beautiful place. It's amazing all the pretty areas like that that are so close by and available to us.
The lunch was amazing. I must confess that part of the many different smells that Chuck mentions, might have come on the ride back home.  Those lima beans were awe-some and I bet I ate four helpins, myself. We need to go back and do this ride again!!"

And our newest member, Randy Banks said: "I really enjoyed the ride today.  This is a great bunch of guys and I really appreciated everyone's friendship and the fun we had on the ride. That was my first time to High Falls and this was one of the most beautiful rides I have ever had.  The lunch was very good and probably a little too good since I couldn't stop eating :)"

Well, you get the idea. This was the last "official" ride that we have scheduled for 2007, but keep an eye out for future emails. With pretty days like today popping up throughout the "winter" here in Georgia, we may announce some impromptu rides from time to time. I hope al who can get a recess pass will come join us.

Blue Ridge Parkway Ride
Dear Son Chasers:
We're finally home and have pictures posted from the BRP ride. Check out the pics that Dave Kyle posted this morning on the website (www.sonchasers.org).
From all accounts we had a great time of fellowship, good food, great scenery, and plenty of motorcycle moments, i.e., wind in our face, dark tunnels, and plenty of curve leaning.
This year we had ten participants with several new experiences on the BRP ride. For the first time, Honda Goldwings out numbered the other makes; Tom Arlotto, Roger Strandberg, Ben Darnel,
Gary Wallace, you were needed to represent the HD crowd, there were no Harleys! We helped Jim Kulaga celebrate his 39th birthday (for the twenty something time?). We had three ladies
on this trip which really added a lot of excitement since the Dragon was a bit of a stretch for their adventure quotient. We had some good discussion during our devotions and I was really
blessed by the camaraderie and friendships that the experience brought forth.
 
As you know Dave and Ronna Kyle and Janet and I rode the rest of the Parkway to Waynesboro, Va.  The ladies then caught a flight back to Atlanta and Dave and I rode on thru W. Va., Ohio,
Michigan's upper peninsula, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ill., Iowa, Kentucky, Al. then Ga. Dave will also post a few of the extended trip pics on the website. If you get the chance to make a trip
like this in the future, I would recommend the steel arch bridge over the New River gorge in W. Va., the 30+ mile long "tunnel of trees" on Michigan's NW coast, for those not faint of heart,
the Mackinaw Bridge, and Tahquamenon Falls in the UP. We were blessed indeed on this trip. Thank you for your prayers for safe travel.
 
For October, our ride will be on Saturday the 27th. We haven't had enough riders say they could make the ride to the Lewis' farm for a cookout as originally proposed so we are going to make a
run to a great family style restaurant near High Falls, Ga. I'll be getting a ride route and leaving time out to everyone in the next week. In the mean time, keep the 27th open and ride safely.

Butlers Mill Ride
Riders:
It looks like the time change caught several of you off guard as a number of our regulars were absent today. I'll give more notice the next time we change the time. But for the eight that were there today we had a great ride. The weather was good. There were no close calls. We had a fun time getting to know each other at an old cotton mill turned southern seafood restaurant. You knew I would eventually get to the food. We all seemed to understand an unwritten club rule: when at an all you can eat seafood buffet, all diets are suspended. The food was really good and Paul and Tom did not embarrass the rest of us (too much) because everyone at the restaurant seemed to be going by the same rule. It did take some planning and a little restraint in order to leave room for some peach and/or strawberry cobbler, banana pudding and homemade ice cream. Well you get the idea.

Thanks to Paul for suggesting the ride route and leading today. Thanks to Dave Kyle for the Son Chaser coffee mugs and the route maps. We had a good time but our regular photographers were not there, so I'm afraid we have no pictures. Oh well, I guess we'll have to do this one again when we remember to bring the cameras. I'll be getting the next ride details out
in the next two weeks. In the meantime we have three more rides to plan: any suggestions?

Callaway Country Store Ride
We were blessed with good weather and a safe ride again yesterday as we took the long route to the Country Store. 
The group was fourteen strong, which included first timers Jim Kaluga, Matthew Palmer, Rick and Jackie Wassum,; plus Ronna Kyle,  and friends Larry and Anita from Ohio who met us at the restaurant. 
We voted to take advantage of the good riding opportunity and added the side trip to Sprewell Bluff SP. This made the trip total about 170 miles. 
Some of the "regulars" (I have to put that in quotes because I doubt some of them would be known by that description....won't say which ones, but you probably know who I'm talking about.) could not make the trip so mark your calendars for the next ride on July 21.  
The next ride is to Butlers Mill Restaurant in Alabama, which is actually a little less riding than we did yesterday. The route is mostly rural and very pleasant. Hope to see you then.

Concord Loop Ride
WOW! The weather for yesterday's ride was perfect! The ride was a good route for our first group event. Not too long, very little traffic and some great rural Georgia scenery.

Dave Kyle had some pics posted last night on the website. We have some more to come. 
Thank you to the twelve that participated, especially the ladies and the guests. We were not only blessed with great weather and a safe ride but with your presence. 
Check out the pics and bring a friend for the May ride. 
A special thanks to Tom Fulton for the safety presentation, to Roger Strandburg for the prompt response on the pictures and Dave Kyle who so masterfully updates and organizes the website. We're off to a great start.
